Coilovers or a strut tower brace? Coilovers are about $650, and the strut bar is like $150-200. I’m getting myself a beater car before either, but after that I’ll have nothing else to save up for. The Soul is already pretty rigid, so I’m leaning more towards the coilovers. Alternatively, I could get some lowering springs for much less. But how badly do those affect shock life?
In either case, I’m excited to finally upgrade my car.

You’ll see a bigger improvement in handling with coil-overs than a shock tower brace. Lower springs can kill shocks if they’re not valved for them...or you’ll just bottom out all the time and ride on the bump-stops.

Also, the best shock tower braces are the 3-point ones that connect to the firewall.

The strut brace might not make any noticeable difference, so coilovers are the best bet bang for your buck.
Shock life depends on the spring rate and drop amount.

I’d be leery of coilovers that cost so little.
